A Tsar thought of three vital questions. The first question was related to the important time of any act. He thought what would be his most important time when he could start a thing. The Second question was about the correct people. He thought that he must know who would be the most important people to listen to and whom he would avoid. The third question was about the important business of life. The Tsar had an idea that he would never meet a failure if he could get the answers of his three important questions.

The Tsar was with the hermit in the wood. All day long he was digging the earth. In the evening a enemy was about to attack the Tsar, King’s bodyguard recognized him and wounded him fatally.The wounded man ran into the hermit’s hut . The Tsar nursed him till he revived. Next day The man came back to consciousness and realized that the Tsar had saved his life. He asked for pardon and promised to serve his savior faithfully throughout his life and instruct his sons to do the same.The Tsar was happy to have gained an unknown enemy for loyal friend. He forgave the man and promised to restore his property. Enmity gave way to friendship

The first question of the Tsar was about knowing the right time to begin an action.
In his first question, the Tsar sought to know the best time to begin something. The scholars gave different solutions to this problem. Some advised to draw up in advance a table of days, months and years and to plan his actions accordingly. Other scholars advised to give close attention to the events taking place and decide whichone was the most necessary to act upon. Some scholars advised the Tsar to keep a group of wise men while some others advised the tsar to consult magicians to meet a great urgency. The answers didn’t satisfy the Tsar at all.
4. Why did the Tsar go to the hermit ? Why did he go there in disguise ? what was the hermit doing when the Tsar met him ?
The Tsar went to the hermit because none of the scholars could satisfy his queries. Their diverse opinions in fact, increased the Tsar’s confusion. So he went to the hermit who was believed to be a wise man.
The hermit received only common folk. That is why the Tsar had to leave aside his own royal dress and put on simple clothes before meeting the hermit.
The hermit was digging the ground in front of his hut. The Tsar saw him breathing heavily while striking the spade into the ground. The wise man greeted the Tsar but went on digging.
5. What answers did the hermit give to the king’s questions ?
The hermit explained the tsar’s experiences to give the three answers to the Tsar’s questions. According to the hermit, the present time was the most important time for the Tsar. The Tsar dug the soil for the hermit and that was the most important thing for him. This saved his life because his enemy had waited to avenge the death of his brother at that time. This was the answer to the Tsar’s first question. Again the most important people were those who were with the Tsar. That is why it was important for the Tsar to help the hermit ande nurse the wounded man. In answer to the third question the hermit explained that the most important purpose of a man’s life is to help others. The Tsar escaped his death by helping the hermit and the wounded man. Such answers given by the hermit satisfied the Tsar.
